Domestic Abuse and Violence an Epidemic!!
You show others how to treat you. Fatima an immigrant from Bangladesh says….This is so important and true, but I realized it too late that respect for myself will never come from others if I allow them to treat me in inhuman ways…for me when I stayed after my husband called me awful names I showed him it was okay. Then when he hit me and I stayed, again, I showed him it was all right. When I finally told the police he tried to kill me and I was able to have him physically removed, I showed him how to treat me and that it was no longer allowed.)
How long do you take abuse and eventually torture…Dilshad discusses with Mosaic family Services, Chetna of DFW and Texas Muslim Women Foundation what services and domestic abuse programs they offer…
When people think of domestic abuse, they often picture battered women who have been physically assaulted. But not all abusive relationships involve violence. Just because you’re not battered and bruised doesn’t mean you’re not being abused. Many men and women suffer from emotional abuse, which is no less destructive. Unfortunately, emotional abuse is often minimized or overlooked—even by the person being abused.
